ABORTION: LDS POLICY VS. DEMOCRATIC PARTY POLICY

DEMOCRAT POLICY: DECEIVE UTAH’S MORMON COMMUNITY

The Democratic Party (DNC) official policy on legalized abortion in the State of Utah is most insidious. It’s designed first and foremost to deceive, and primarily to deceive Utah’s Mormon community, a majority of the State’s population. In Utah, the issue scares local Democrat leaders “nigh unto death,” as it should.

That’s a bold statement. So, let’s look at the facts.

Recently I discussed this issue with a well-known Utah Democratic leader, who also happens to be LDS. Always careful to avoid this sticky issue, considering the sensitive beliefs of Mormons on the subject, still he made the claim to me that “the DNC’s official position on abortion was, in fact, closely in-line with the official policy of the LDS Church.” His argument was, as he usually is, smooth and effective…until I took a closer look.

You’ll notice that the DNC is internally disciplined to never discuss abortion in anything but the abstract. This is by design, plotted in DNC strategy sessions. I’ve also learned that uttering the term “human fetus” or “human life” never issues from the mouths of DNC leaders in Utah when discussing abortion. The topic scares Democrats spitless, the DNC seeing an internal challenge from party members whose consciences are now being pricked by this abominable practice, a challenge threatening to cause the party some heartburn.

(It should cause them a whole lot more than that.)

Always cunning, Democrat leaders judiciously avoid mentioning any of the gruesome details actually occurring when an abortion is performed. In other words, Utah Democrats hope to focus the discussion purely on the relatively “clean” and abstract concepts of the “right of women to choose what to do with their own bodies” and “without government or church interference.” This is their strategy, which to many, is deceptive and dishonest.

In truth, even a superficial look at the Democratic Party’s Official Abortion Policy raises all kinds of red flags for practicing Mormons. For starters, quote: “The Democratic Party strongly and unequivocally supports Roe v. Wade and a woman’s right to make decisions regarding her pregnancy, including a safe and legal abortion, regardless of her ability to pay (for the abortion). We oppose any and all efforts to weaken or undermine that right.”

Also, to rub it in the faces of their opposition, the DNC Policy adds: “We stand firmly against Republican efforts to undermine these rights… Democrats stand behind the right of every woman to choose. We believe it is a constitutional liberty.”

Now, I’ve read the U.S. Constitution many times and frankly I’m perplexed. I see nothing, anywhere, in those sacred pages that give even a hint of a woman’s right to kill her own unborn child. (Think about that. A woman actually willing to kill her own unborn baby. It’s inconceivable.) Please, my Democrat friends, could you show me where the Founders, at any time, in any of their writings, advocated such a right, or ‘liberty’?

Simply, it’s not there. In fact, one could easily argue that the practice of abortion actually robs our most innocent—those most helpless—of their own Constitution rights and protections, including the God-given right of Life and Liberty (5th and 14th Amendments).

More so, can you imagine how deceived a woman must be by these promoters of this modern abomination to actually make such a ‘choice’ involving the most innocent of God’s creations? That’s why, as you will see below, the Church comes down hard on those who use their influence to convince women to go ahead and abort their own unborn children.

SPIES IN A FOREIGN, EVEN HOSTILE, ENVIRONMENT

Democrats today are politically skilled and strategically savvy. They are consummate politicians. Many are attorneys. They are skilled at what they do. And in Utah they operate like spies in a foreign, even hostile environment, adroitly understanding that the spiritual-culture of Utah is, at its core, generally not warm to what the modern Democratic Party has become, particularly over the past two decades. Utahans’ rejection of the Democratic Party’s surreptitious secular-progressive agenda is reflected in their dwindling percentage represented in the Legislature and among other elected offices statewide. More to the point, Utahans are highly suspicious of federal government interference and intrusion. Democrats know this and slip this tactic, hopefully (to them) unseen, into their Utah strategy.

That’s why they’ve attempted to tie “a woman’s freedom to choose” contained in their official abortion policy, and also “opposing Government intrusion and regulation” of abortion. This, of course, to any thinking person is laughable. Our Democrat friends have never met a regulation or government intrusion (or government tax) that doesn’t make them hopelessly giddy and all-atingle.

Particularly over the past eight years the Democrats have regulated our once free nation to the brink, literally. President Obama bypassed Congress and went on a regulation feeding-frenzy unlike any president in history when he ran up against a Republican-controlled House of Representatives. “I have a phone and a pen,” he warned, arrogantly, then proceeded to run roughshod over our Constitutional freedoms at will. States like Utah, in the Democrat mindset (though they never admit it), need to be regulated, “even unto death.” Ask any business owner, farmer, rancher, or entrepreneur.

Democrats are died-in-the-wool Statists, in very fact Elitist control-freaks. They are, at their core, despotic and totalitarian. Many are closet-Socialists. The more radical are even fascistic.

In truth, this is NOT the Democratic Party of your grandparents! Not even close. President Kennedy is twirling in his grave.

Never missing a chance to deceive to their own gain, the DNC uses this native suspicion in Utah of Big Government to their political advantage regarding the abortion issue. However, their argument is not only a false-flag, a lie-in-action, but more so deeply insidious because it ignores the blatantly obvious elephant in the room—what they are, in reality, advocating by their policy of “freedom to choose.” They cloak the true horror that is taking place when an abortion is performed, particularly the gruesome late-term variety, which (amazingly) most Democrat leaders support. President Obama, in fact, when he was a Senator, personally voted to legalize this Dr. Mengele-like procedure on multiple occasions.  That one fact alone should have doomed the man to the ash-heap of history, certainly in Utah.

Without a doubt, eugenics (the curse of Margaret Sanger) is alive and well in America today, protected, even promoted, by the DNC and their political allies in Planned Parenthood.

“LEGAL, SAFE, AND RARE”

Democrats pride themselves in being “sophisticated, practical thinkers.” In reality, they are on a crazy train to hell, pedal to the metal, the Abortion Issue but one example: They make the glib, yet illogical, statement (concocted during the Clinton years), that “abortion should be legal, safe, and rare.

Yet, such a policy is not only contradictory to its core, but deceptive in its purpose. More so, it carefully avoids the real issue of what is actually occurring when an abortion takes place. Democrats avoid this issue like the plague, fighting tooth and nail to keep people in the dark about what is actually taking place in this gruesome procedure (American abortions done in the millions), or from being counseled beforehand about the humane alternatives to abortion, like adoption.

The Party of Logic and Reason? That would be laughable if it weren’t so tragic.

In sum, here’s why the DNC’s policy (above) is illogical: If a human fetus is not a human being (which is also the Democrats’ true position, though they seldom admit it openly), then why in the world should abortion be ‘rare? If a fetus is not a developing little girl or boy, but just a “mass of tissue,” then why not use abortion as just another form (100 percent effective, by the way) of birth control (like it’s used today in Russia, China, North Korea, Cuba, and other secular hellholes)?

However, if the human fetus is, in fact, a human being, then how can abortion possibly be ‘legal’? Remember, according to the Democrats “Abortion should be legal, safe, and rare.” But they can’t have it both ways. Simply, if it’s not a human being, then why is abortion ‘rare,’ and if we are talking a human being here, how can abortion possibly be ‘legal’?

Their own official definition—which I’m sure Democrat Leaders hope no one takes a close look at—is practically, legally, morally, and logically, indefensible, even incomprehensible. It’s designed to deceive. Obviously, to any truly compassionate person, “safe, legal, and rare,” when tied to the killing of an unborn child, is, or should be, abhorrent, no matter how safe, no matter how rare!

Most importantly, little contained in the Democratic Party’s official platform supporting legalized abortion passes the morality test, regardless of how you spin or sugarcoat it or claim it’s “legal.”

What Democrats are hoping, of course, is that no one looks beyond the superficial. “Nothing to see here. Move on!”

THE LDS CHURCH’S OFFICIAL POLICY ON ABORTION

To complete the point, let’s look at the official LDS Church policy on abortion. It’s straight-forward and crystal-clear (bolded, below):

Human life is a sacred gift from God. Elective (“free-choice”) abortion for personal or social convenience is contrary to the will and the commandments of God. In today’s society, abortion has become a common practice (hardly ‘rare’50 million abortions performed in America since Roe vs. Wade was sustained by the Leftist-packed Courts and passed by a Democrat-controlled Congress), and defended by deceptive arguments. (Church leaders easily spot “the Big Lie,” a weapon used by Utah’s Leftist politicians primarily to deceive.)

“Latter-day prophets have denounced abortion, referring to the Lord’s declaration, ‘Thou shalt not … kill, nor do anything like unto it’ (D&C 59:6).

“When a child is conceived out of wedlock, the best option is for the mother and father of the child to marry and work toward establishing an eternal family relationship. If a successful marriage is unlikely, they should place the child for adoption…”

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints must not submit to, perform, encourage, pay for, or arrange for an abortion. Church leaders have said that some exceptional circumstances may justify an abortion, such as when pregnancy is the result of incest or rape, when the life or health of the mother is judged by competent medical authority to be in serious jeopardy… But even these circumstances do not automatically justify an abortion. (Emphasis added.)

My Utah Mormon friends, what could be clearer? Obviously this is not the brand of double-speak offered by our homegrown Democrat operatives, including my friend who is one of their leaders and should know better. There is little regarding these two official policies that can, or should, be comparable. They are, in effect, polar opposites. Isn’t it refreshing when someone actually takes a moral stand for truth, plainly expressed, regardless of the political consequences? The Church’s policy comes from God. There are no political axes to grind here, no “teacher’s having itching ears who turn from truth to fables” (2 Timothy 4:3-4).

Can the DNC make such a claim?

Much of the base support for the Democrat Party today comes from radical feminists who view this single issue, their unrestricted access to “free” abortion, as absolutely “sacred.” Many are now threatening to leave the Party if the DNC softens its support for unrestricted abortion on demand.

While I am certainly no spokesman for the LDS Church, still I can’t help but winch at the bald-faced hypocrisy displayed by too many of Utah’s Mormon Democrat leaders. When I encounter members of the Church who are also rabid Democrats in this day and age, I wonder how they justify embracing the blatant evil represented by this party, and their cold, jaded, politically-expedient position regarding the most innocent and helpless among us.

How can a political party that claims to be the advocate for the weak and the downtrodden be so horribly vindictive against these most helpless little ones, turning their collective backs on our innocent unborn? In effect, for political gain, they’ve sold their own souls.

And if they are so deceptive and hypocritical with this vital issue, how can we trust them with other matters?

As members of the Church we know that these unborn spirits are special gifts of God, that they are literal children of our Father-In-Heaven and our spirit brothers and sisters. The Prophets are clear on this and no amount of verbal acrobatics or political sleight of hand can alter the truth.

“Thou shalt not…kill, nor do anything like unto it” (D/C 59:6).

“In as much as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren ye have done it unto me” (Matt. 25:40).

“And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones…it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the depths of the sea (Mark 9:42).

“Children are an heritage of the Lord, and the fruit of the womb is his reward” (Psalm 127:3).

Obviously God understands the divine nature of these unborn children. They are the sacred “heritage of the Lord.” They are the essence and eternal purpose of Father-In-Heaven’s Plan of Happiness: “Eternal increase,” one of the prime reasons we came to this world.

Utah Democrat leaders, your official position on abortion is devious and deceptive. It’s hypocritical, particularly in Utah. Jesus reserved his harshest criticism for hypocrites, those leaders who taught their people one thing, but actually believed something different. If I was a Utah Mormon Democrat, particularly a leader, this single issue would be a deal-killer for me.

Perhaps it is for you.

I hope.
